Membership
Having you as a Blue Flame member is what we are all about. The Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas and Heritage Propane/Amerigas families are welcome as members of Blue Flame Credit Union, and as of 2022 we now accept members that live, work, worship, or attend school out of Mecklenburg County.
Membership is Waiting for You
Blue Flame Credit Union is a cooperative, not-for-profit financial institution organized to promote thrift and provide credit to members. Originally chartered in 1954, Blue Flame has grown in membership, assets and reach.
Who Can Join Blue Flame?
Employees and retirees of the following organizations, as well as their immediate family members, are invited to join Blue Flame Credit Union:
- If you live, work, attend school, or worship in Mecklenburg County
- Duke Energy
- Piedmont Natural Gas
- Heritage Propane/Amerigas
Immediate family members include spouses, children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents and siblings. The employee or retiree must become a member in order for immediate family members to be eligible for membership.
Once a Member, Always a Member
Our motto “Once a Member, Always a Member” means that even if you leave Duke Energy or Piedmont Natural Gas, you remain a BFCU member. Once you join, you are a member for life, as long as you maintain an active account. And your immediate family can still join at any time.
