Membership
Blue Flame Credit Union is a cooperative, not-for-profit financial institution organized to promote thrift and provide credit to members. Originally chartered in 1954, Blue Flame has grown in membership, assets and reach.
Who Can Join Blue Flame?
Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Mecklenburg County can join our credit union, along with their immediate family members.
Employees and retirees of the following organizations, as well as their immediate family members, may also join our credit union:
- Duke Energy
- Piedmont Natural Gas
- Heritage Propane/Amerigas
Who is an Immediate Family Member?
Immediate family members include spouses, children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents and siblings. The employee or retiree must become a member in order for immediate family members to be eligible for membership.
Once a Member, Always a Member
Our motto “Once a Member, Always a Member” means that even if you leave Duke Energy or Piedmont Natural Gas, you remain a Blue Flame member. Once you join, you are a member for life, as long as you maintain an active account. And your immediate family can still join at any time.
