Googolplex - For Students

Googolplex is an interactive website containing stories, games and puzzles for elementary, middle and high school students. It's all about money - getting it, saving it, spending it, borrowing it.

What in the world is a Googolplex?

A googolplex is the largest number with a name. If we could know how many atoms there are in the universe, that number would still be less than a googolplex.

According to Merriam-Webster, around 1930, American mathematician Edward Kasner was working with numbers as large as 10 to the 100th power, that is a one followed by 100 zeroes. Dr. Kasner felt the number should have a name and asked his nine year old nephew, Milton Sirotta, to pick a name. Milton made up the word googol and so the enormous number was christened. Young Milton proposed the further term googolplex to be "one followed by writing zeroes until you get tired."

Googolplex is also...

What else is Googolplex? It is also the name of Blue Flame Credit Union's interactive website with dedicated areas for elementary, middle and high school students.
